HALLOWEEN 2014. 20 de fotografii sugestive

Mai sunt doar câteva zile până la Halloween, înfricoșătoarea sărbătoare a morților, și toată lumea este în pregătiri pentru a trăi cea mai terifiantă noapte din an. Îți prezentăm mai jos o galerie foto cu cele mai sugestive fotografii de Halloween, de la cum să îți decorezi dovlecii până la decorațiuni înfricoșătoare și vedete care fac pregătirile pentru noaptea groazei.

Halloweenul este, de fapt, sărbătoarea celților, dar a fost preluată rapid de Occident. Sărbătoarea a ajuns în secolul XIX în Statele Unite datorită imigranților irlandezi. Noaptea groazei se sărbătorește în noaptea din 31 octombrie, însă în unele state, precum în Suedia, această sărbătoare are loc în prima sâmbătă din luna noiembrie. Numele provine din engleză, de la „All Hallows Even”, numele sărbătorii creștine a tuturor sfinților. Sărbătoarea este atât de importantă în țările catolice și protestante, datorită marketingului făcut, încât poate concura oricând cu Crăciunul.

The annual Rise of the Jack-O'-Lanterns exhibition features more than 5,000 hand-carved, illuminated pumpkins created by professional artists and sculptors in La Canada Flintridge, California. The exhibit is laid out along a 0.25 mile (0.4km) scenic trail at Descanso Gardens and continues until November 02nd.

Blackpool Zoo's Amur tiger cub twins - the first of their kind to be born in the zoo for 18 years - have inspired a quirky piece of artwork created to mark their first Halloween. Crafted by master carver Simon McMinnis it was displayed as part of a week-long celebration for Halloween half term. Once the pumpkin is removed from display it will be used for enrichments for the cubs' next-door neighbours, the meerkats.

Even the sun is dressing up for halloween! NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) snapped this composite image as the spacecraft stared at the sun from its spot in space on October 8th, 2014. In the image, hotspots of magnetic fields hovering in the sun's atmosphere, the corona, appears to form the recognisable eyes, nose and creepy grin of a jack-o-lantern. The image blends together two sets of wavelengths at 171 and 193 Angstroms, typically colorised in gold and yellow.

On October 4th, 183 Zumba dancers dressed up as zombies in a bid to set a new world record at Tulleys Farm near Crawley, West Sussex.
